The best part of Sri Lanka for me was the abundance of wildlife. We saw elephants, 2 leopards, crocodiles, beautiful birds and lizards, amongst other things. The safari in Yala and Minneriya were amazing. The people are very friendly and helpful, food good too! There is so mush diversity and lovely scenery.

It was all exciting really from the beautiful beachside hotels to the wildlife parks. At Palagama beach the food was amazing especially when I was shown their own vegetable garden and we picked fresh vegetables that were cooked as individual curries for my dinner that evening. Don’t waste any time in Colombo. Book hotels based upon recommendations if possible. There is a huge variety of quality at apparently the same standard. Old colonial is no longer necessarily the best.

We went on a wildlife tour of Sri Lanka and suggest you give yourselves a few rest days between safaris to recuperate as well as giving you more time to enjoy

The vacation is ideal for those wishing to relax and take things at a leisurely pace. Be aware most of the hotels are located in fairly remote locations so not ideal for sightseeing or activities but our driver was very good at suggesting an itinerary that suited us and fitted plenty of things on our travel days maximising our time.

The most memorable was the whale watching. To see the largest creatures on earth from maybe 20 or 30 metres away is a real privilege and to see them do the deep dive with the tail in the air is a iconic image. Also seeing leopards in the wild was a memorable moment.

The glories of Sri Lanka, from the Dambulla caves to Horton Plains to the southern ocean. This was a fabulous itinerary, leaving us with rich memories that will endure. Our guide, Srinath, was particularly knowledgeable and passionate about the archaeology, history, and Buddhist religion, helping make the ancient cities the most enjoyable and memorable part of the trip for us. The van was comfortable and Indica was a careful and safe driver.
